Grief and Loss
Unexpected lifestyle changes necessitated by chronic mental or physical illness are accompanied by grief. Awareness of this is important for our own lives and so that we can be more sensitive to other people's situations. Grief has tell-tale signs. And there are actions we can take that demonstrate support to those who have suffered a loss. Learn about coping with grief in and out of a dementia situation with our Grief and Loss course. This course is divided into four sections: a description of the grieving process, an outline of the range of likely losses most people will experience, ideas for helping people cope no matter where they are in the grieving process, ideas for a residential care community or adult day center memorial service.
Upon completion of this course, you will learn:
- The signs of grief
- The process of grief
- The losses faced with aging
- When a person needs outside care
- How to help people cope with grief
- Ways to remember a person whose died
